Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that you agree people have too many choices, and you include relevant areas such as shopping and selecting a school stream or college. The example of choosing a noodle brand also helps illustrate the topic. However, the response only partly develops the argument: the advantages are described more clearly than the disadvantages, and the claim that people become confused is not explained with a specific situation or consequence. The opening also says “Most of people believe” without establishing this as a reason for your own position. To strengthen the response, explain why the range of choices has grown and develop both the benefits and drawbacks with focused examples that directly support your degree of agreement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the examples generally relate to the topic. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow: the second paragraph moves from shopping to children’s education and then to a market example without clearly linking these points. The third paragraph introduces advantages and disadvantages, but its explanation becomes tangled, particularly in “the shopkeeper will ask him a with brand things he want.” Linking phrases such as “for example” and “in conclusion” are used, but connections are often repetitive or unclear. Organise each paragraph around one main point, use clear topic sentences, and make pronouns and references explicit so readers can follow who is choosing what.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant words, including “choices,” “advantages,” “disadvantage,” “taste,” and “budget,” so the general topic is identifiable. However, vocabulary is basic and highly repetitive, especially repeated forms of “choice” and “people,” and several spelling errors make reading harder: “descuss,” “belive,” “chocies,” and “buget.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “having a choices” and “got puzzle,” which do not communicate the intended meaning naturally. Build a wider range of accurate phrases for discussing options and their effects, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise wording would help distinguish between having many options, making a decision, and feeling overwhelmed by alternatives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “so that,” and “because.” However, control is limited, and errors occur throughout, sometimes making the intended relationships difficult to understand. Examples include “Most of people believe,” “i am totally agree,” and “their is many choices,” which show problems with articles, verb forms and subject–verb agreement. Several sentences also run together without clear punctuation, as in the long shopping and education sentence in the second paragraph. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine them using one clear subordinate clause. Pay particular attention to agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, and proofread for capitalisation and punctuation.
