Student answer (Band 6.0)
I ardently agree with the given statement.
Sometimes each choice comes with it's own set of consequences, once you have made a choice, you cannot go back to it, undo it. you must face the consequences.
As the french philosopher Albert Camus once said 'I am free, that is why I am lost' in his book.
it shows that how having too many choices and can make one confused, it can be a blessing in disguise because when you have inumerable choices, you are bound to be confused, you will ponder over the each choice and what path it could take you in your life. you will think about the consequences of each choice and think if you are making the best choice of all. But no matter what choice you make, inevitably, your brain tends to idolize the path not taken, the choice you did not make and how it could have been and it is enough to send a person spiraling down to regret and lost ultimately. Having too many choices comes with the responsibilty to choose the best among them and make sure the choice that you make leaves you with zero regrets.
In my experience, I was met with a choice to leave my job on the spot or wait tilI I get a better job first since it was my first job. I had to make a choice I could personally live with, being able to face myself in the mirror with less regret. I left the job without any backup plan because the manager was toxic. I have been able to live with it since me being there would take a toll on my mental health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening—“I ardently agree”—and remains consistent. You address the question by explaining that numerous options can create confusion, encourage overthinking, and lead to regret, then support this with a personal example about leaving a toxic job. This relevant example helps show why choice can feel burdensome. The response also begins to develop a broader point about responsibility and consequences. However, the discussion focuses mainly on the emotional cost of choosing; it does not explain much about where people encounter too many choices today or consider why choice might be beneficial. The Camus quotation is introduced but its connection to your argument could be explained more precisely. Develop these aspects to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable sequence: a clear opinion, an explanation of the problem, and a personal example. The job story is placed appropriately after the general discussion and gives the essay a concrete ending. However, the central paragraph contains several ideas in one long stretch, so the progression from confusion to regret and responsibility is difficult to follow. The sentence beginning “it shows that how” also makes the link to the quotation unclear, while “But no matter what choice you make” introduces another point without a clear paragraph break. Use separate paragraphs for the main explanation and example, and guide the reader with clearer links between each claim. This would make the overall organisation easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, including “consequences,” “ponder,” “regret,” and “mental health.” Phrases such as “the path not taken” and “toxic” help convey the emotional impact of decisions, and the meaning is generally clear. Some choices are imprecise or awkward, however: “idolize the path not taken” is not a natural collocation in this context, and “leaves you with zero regrets” is overly absolute and informal for an academic essay. There are also spelling errors, including “inumerable” and “responsibilty.” Aim for precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will strengthen the vocabulary without requiring more complicated words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “when you have inumerable choices, you are bound to be confused.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, punctuation, and grammatical forms reduce accuracy. For example, “it shows that how having too many choices and can make one confused” has an incorrect clause structure and an unnecessary “and”; “you will ponder over the each choice” has an article problem; and “once you have made a choice, you cannot go back to it, undo it” joins clauses awkwardly. Capitalisation after full stops is also inconsistent. Edit for complete sentences, correct clause patterns, and punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
