Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that people have too many choices. You also give two relevant areas—online shopping and education—and include examples, such as searching online for products and asking others for advice about a study programme. However, the ideas are only partly developed. The education paragraph focuses mainly on getting help from educated people, rather than explaining how this creates more choices, and the link between the two stated reasons and your overall argument is not always clear. The claim that the future will make choosing easier is also introduced without support. Explain more directly why the range of options is excessive and develop each example to show its effect.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Furthermore,” and a conclusion. These markers help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: both body paragraphs end by restating that there are many choices, and the conclusion repeats the introduction rather than drawing together the reasons. Some links are unclear, particularly the move from asking relatives for advice to having too many choices. Improve cohesion by making each paragraph’s main point explicit, connecting examples directly to that point, and using references such as “these options” only when their meaning is clear. Check spacing and punctuation around linking words as well.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “options,” “educational background,” “select,” and “future,” and the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “choices,” “options,” and “choose.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “surffing,” “furthere,” “paragrphs,” and “neiberhood,” which make the writing less clear and polished. Some expressions are not natural in context, including “educational parents” and “give us our answer.” Build a more accurate range of collocations and vary repeated terms; for example, distinguish between having a wide selection and finding it difficult to make a decision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in “Although, Some people claim…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “Although” is incorrectly used as a standalone connector, while “it is agree with this statement” has an incorrect verb construction. Other problems include “when we have confused,” “our elders easily helps,” and “it will be more easy,” involving verb forms, agreement, and comparative structure. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each verb against its subject.
