Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, modernization provides distinict opportunities in every fields. Some people believe that every people have too much choices. Although this gives them more freedom and better opportunities, I believe that too many choices can sometimes create confusion and waste of time.

To begin with, there are several advantages of having too much choices. First, more choices provide them freedom in everywhere. People can choose what they like. Moreover, too much choices also provides better opportunity in evry field. People can get a chance to choose better choice for themself. For example, Students can choose online courses according to their interests and budgets. People can select best option for them according to their likes or dislikes. Consequently, more choice have beneficial for people.

However, a large number of choices have also some drawbacks, which never ignored. Primary, too many choices can create confusion and stress. People can find difficult to make the right decision, because there are so many options are available. Secondary, distnict opportunites may waste a lot of time of individuals. If people have various choice in front of them, they search for a long time and spend many hours to find better option for them. For instance, when people shop online, they often spend hours choosing clothes or shoes. They may also regret their decision later. Therefore, too many choices can make life more difficult.

In conclusion, although, more options provide more freedom and better opportunities, I believe that too many choices also waste a lot of time and create confusion, which should never be ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you acknowledge the benefits of choice but argue that too many options can cause confusion and waste time. This directly addresses the question, and the online-course and online-shopping examples make the discussion relevant. The response also considers both sides before reaching a consistent conclusion. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the claim that choices provide “better opportunity in every field” is broad, and the benefits paragraph largely repeats the ideas of freedom and choosing a better option. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely when choice becomes excessive and develop one or two examples to show its effects. The clear position and relevant support are effective, but the ideas are not yet consistently extended and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the main stages. The examples are placed alongside the points they support, which also aids progression. At times, though, linking feels mechanical: “First,” “Moreover,” “Primary,” and “Secondary” form a repeated list pattern rather than showing the relationship between ideas. Some references are also unclear, as in “People can get a chance to choose better choice for themself.” Use transitions that explain cause and effect, and connect each example explicitly to the point it illustrates. This would make the progression smoother and cohesion less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “opportunities,” “freedom,” “confusion,” “stress,” and “regret.” The contrast between benefits and drawbacks is also expressed clearly. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors reduce precision. Examples include “too much choices,” “better choice,” “distinict opportunities,” and “evry field”; “choice” and “opportunity” are also repeated frequently. Some phrases, such as “freedom in everywhere” and “a lot of time of individuals,” are not natural English combinations. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing decision-making, and check spelling and plural forms. More precise, natural collocations would make your argument easier to read and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although this gives them more freedom…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” This shows some range, and the main message is generally recoverable. However, control is inconsistent, particularly in sentence patterns, agreement, articles, and plurals. For example, “every people have” should use a singular subject, while “too much choices” requires a plural quantifier. In “People can find difficult to make the right decision,” the verb pattern is incomplete; “People can find it difficult…” is the correct structure. The sentence “because there are so many options are available” also combines two incompatible patterns. Practise accurate basic sentence frames first, then use subordinate clauses and varied structures with careful checking of agreement and articles.
