Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and make your position clear: you agree that people now have many choices, while arguing that this can affect quality, the environment, and competition. The examples about food, clothing, careers, and products are relevant and show the breadth of choice. However, the response focuses more on the consequences of choice than on explaining how far you agree, and some claims are not fully developed. For example, the link between a wider restaurant menu and “killing more animals” needs clearer reasoning or evidence. The final paragraph also introduces the idea that people should choose carefully, but does not explain what this means. Develop the main reasons more fully and connect each example directly to your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs describing choices and their costs, and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive, particularly with repeated references to “multiple options” and “choices.” Several linking words are used mechanically or inaccurately, such as “Although” at the start of a sentence followed by “but,” and “Similarly” where the relationship between ideas is not clear. The conclusion is also cut off, so it does not provide a complete final summary. Use clearer topic sentences, group related examples, and make the connection between each example and your argument explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “environmental impacts,” “competition,” “profession,” and “raw material,” which helps communicate the main ideas. However, word choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear. Examples include “numerous number,” “a previliage,” “cousines,” and “raise in competition.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “choices in living” and “at impact to environment.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than adding more complex words: for example, use “a wide range of options,” “environmental damage,” and “increased competition.” Proofreading for spelling and checking unfamiliar word forms would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “Although” and examples beginning with “For instance.” However, complex sentences are often not controlled accurately, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “Although, Everyone got diverse set of choices …, but it comes at a cost” combines incompatible structures and has unclear agreement. “There are a multiple types” also has an incorrect article pattern, while “these choices came at impact” shifts tense and does not form a clear grammatical construction. The final sentence is incomplete. Practise building one clear main clause before adding subordinate clauses, and check that each sentence has a complete, consistent structure.
