Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You take a position in favour of having many choices, stating that these opportunities are “totally positive” and “beneficial for individuals.” The examples about online shopping and students selecting courses are relevant, and you also introduce the opposing view that too many options can cause confusion. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: the counterargument is left unfinished (“then thwhich is”), and neither side is explained in enough depth to establish a balanced, sustained argument. The conclusion is also missing. The response contains 198 words, below the required 250, which limits the space available to develop your reasons and examples. Complete the discussion, explain how you weigh the disadvantages against the benefits, and finish with a clear conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is an attempt to organise the response into paragraphs: one presents benefits and another introduces the concern that choice can cause confusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “However,” and “According to these opportunities” show awareness of how ideas can be connected. Nevertheless, the overall progression is difficult to follow. The opening is unclear, the shift between viewpoints is abrupt, and the final example stops mid-sentence, leaving the argument without a complete ending. Some connections are also repetitive or awkward, and references such as “our study program” do not clearly match the people being discussed. Plan a simple sequence—position, supporting reasons, opposing view and response, conclusion—and ensure each paragraph develops one complete point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “options,” “freedom,” “universities,” “varieties,” and “confusion,” so the reader can identify the subject of the essay. There are also attempts at more formal expressions such as “contentious topic” and “under these circumstances.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning harder to understand: “I will be admire,” “stucks individuals,” and “shortlist or choose our fields” are examples. Spelling errors such as “Oppurtunities,” “desicion,” and “difficilties” are noticeable. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing choice, such as “make an informed decision” and “an overwhelming range,” and check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason-and-example structure beginning “For instance” and a contrast introduced by “However.” This shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and plurals are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “a person have too much choices” needs a singular verb and a plural noun, while “students are confuse” has an incorrect adjective form. The opening fragment, “Few members of society, think about they have numerous options,” also lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses; check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries carefully.
