Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, people have more choices than ever before in almost every area of life, including education, career, lifestyle, shopping and enetertainment. Although this wide variety of options make decision making a bit difficult as some people say, nevertheless I believe the advantages of having diverse options far outweigh the disadvantages.
As the time is changing and trends shifting every other day, an individual has got a plenty of options to choose from depending on what meets their needs. With the internet exploding and markets getting a digital presence, people have access to read the reviews and compare the products before making a final purchase. They are likely to buy the item which best fits their lives and needs.
Another advantage of having multiple options is that the businessess operate more effectively. When companies know their customers have got the alternatives, they try their best to improve the quality of their products. This is applicable to clothing, apparel, shoe and jewellery industry as well as the local restaurants. Ranging from local cafes to international food chains, people have got a diverse variety of food options to choose from.
As much as there are advantages of having unlimited options, there are certain drawbacks to the same as well. Having many options make decision making difficult leaving people always in quest for the excellent, comparing multiple options yet not being able to narrow down on a single item. Though, this can be overcome by identifying the priorities.
In conclusion, I agree that people have much more options these days yet it has given them multiple benefits. It encourages competition and gives a way towards innovation. The benefits far outweigh the minor inconveniences which can be sorted out if priorities are recognised.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear throughout: you acknowledge that abundant options can make decisions difficult, but argue that their benefits outweigh this drawback. You address both sides and support your view with relevant examples, including online product comparisons, competition between businesses, and food choices. The discussion is generally extended enough to explain how choice can help consumers and encourage companies to improve. However, some claims remain broad—for example, that businesses “operate more effectively”—and the point about decision-making difficulty is less developed than the advantages. To strengthen the response further, explain the effects of these points in more detail and make the examples more specific, while maintaining your clear overall position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response has a clear overall progression: the introduction states your view, the next paragraphs explain benefits, a later paragraph recognises a drawback, and the conclusion restates your position. Paragraphing is appropriate, and linking expressions such as “Another advantage,” “As much as,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. The progression is generally logical, though some transitions feel formulaic, and the relationship between ideas within paragraphs could be made more explicit. For instance, the examples of clothing, jewellery, and restaurants are listed without showing precisely how each illustrates stronger business performance. Use a wider range of natural links and develop the connection between each claim and its supporting example.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “diverse options,” “alternatives,” “priorities,” “competition,” and “innovation,” which allows you to discuss consumer choice and its effects. There are also attempts at less common phrasing, such as “digital presence” and “narrow down,” but some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural: “a plenty of options,” “diverse variety,” and “in quest for the excellent.” Spelling errors such as “enetertainment” and “businessess” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for accurate collocations and avoid using two near-synonyms together; careful proofreading will also help you present your vocabulary more reliably.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in “Although this wide variety of options…” and a subordinate clause in “which best fits their lives and needs.” Meaning remains clear, and several sentences are controlled. Some grammatical errors persist, however. For example, “this wide variety of options make” needs singular agreement (“makes”), and “Having many options make” should also be “makes.” The phrase “an individual has got a plenty of options” has an article and determiner problem, while “people have got the alternatives” uses an unnecessary article. The sentence beginning “Though, this can be overcome” also has awkward punctuation and clause connection. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied complex forms.
