Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many people belive we have too many choices in our lifes. I completly agree with this statement.

At present people have come to a realisation that we now have many chjoices, options available. It doesn't matter which sector or part we are talking about. Opportunities, choices have increased in every part of our life. For instance, in job sector, traditionally people would choose either doctor or enjineering. But now there are many jobs, business people can pursue like photography, singing, content creating and many others. These instances have made people aware of the vast variety of choices they have. But too many choices are making it harder for people to make a decision. They are now easily overwelmed due to too many choices.

I strongly agree that we now have too many choices. This has been possible due to industralisation, development in our studies and modernisation. But along its advantages comes many disadvantages. People now are being neglectant towards their own goals believing they have more options. We now have too many choices. In my personal experience, my sister wanted to study public health. But the other subjects like photography came to her mind. As a result she didn't give the medical exam . Later on she lost interest for photography. This is just one of the many examples of the bad effects of having too manyu choices. But having to many choices have its own perks. People now have broader sense of that they might want to study or go into in life. People now have more opportunities in life. Its side-effects depends on the person. We have to be aware of whatb we want and act accordingly.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and you return to this view when discussing how an abundance of options can make decisions difficult. The examples of changing career choices and your sister’s uncertainty about what to study are relevant, and you also acknowledge a benefit: people have more opportunities. This addresses the task, but some points are less fully developed than others. The career example mainly lists newer occupations, without explaining how their availability creates too much choice; the personal example is more specific but its outcome could be linked more clearly to your argument. Develop each main reason with a fuller explanation and make your final position on the advantages and disadvantages more decisive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an overall structure, moving from the growth of choices to their disadvantages, then to a personal example and a qualification about their benefits. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive: “We now have too many choices” restates the central claim rather than advancing the argument, and “People now have more opportunities in life” repeats an earlier point. Some links are abrupt, particularly the shift from the sister’s experience to the general benefits. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the point it supports. More precise referencing and a wider range of linking expressions would make the argument easier to follow without relying on repeated statements.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “opportunities,” “overwhelmed,” “modernisation,” and “side-effects,” and the reader can generally understand your meaning. There are also attempts to express ideas beyond basic choice, such as describing people as “neglectant towards their own goals.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural word combinations are noticeable, including “belive,” “chjoices,” “industralisation,” and “broader sense of that they might want.” Some wording is also repetitive, especially “choices” and “people.” Aim to check spelling carefully and choose more precise collocations, such as “a wider range of career paths” or “struggle to make decisions,” while varying repeated terms where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, including the contrast in “But having too many choices has its own perks” and the example beginning “In my personal experience.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, and punctuation. For example, “along its advantages comes many disadvantages” has incorrect agreement and word order; “having too many choices have its own perks” also has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence “People now have broader sense of that they might want to study or go into in life” is difficult to control grammatically. Practise building accurate complex sentences and check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries before submitting.
