Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, technology has revolutionized every aspect of our lives. Some people think that their preferences are increasing day by day. I firmly agree with this viewpoint because there are many resources and following new trends throughout the world.

To commence with, people allover the world follow new trends. Their first aim is to adopt specific trends and appears themselves as a unique personality. As there are many resources, people have a lot of choices. They have right to select or reject a particular thing according to their own choices. To cite an example, if students have right to select whatever they want to study, then they would achieve better goals in their future lives and may become a successful person. Parents should allowed their children to choose appropriate subjects. They should not put pressure on their children to study subjects that they like. It may causes bad results and children may feel that they have to fulfill tasks in every condition, whether they are interested or not.

According to my perspective, it is a positive development that helps people to become confident and motivated to achieve their desired goals. Development in the technology has chnaged our lives properly. There are varieties of goods, cosmetics and dresses in the malls. People may select everything with their choices. For instance, if individuals select their dresses on their own, then they would be comfortable and calm by their preferences.

In conclusion, choices are escalating rapidly in this world due to wide range of resources which are produced by the development in the field of science and following new trends to enhance peoples' personality.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that people have many choices, and you give relevant examples involving students selecting subjects and consumers choosing clothes and cosmetics. These examples show an attempt to explain how choice can benefit people. However, the response does not fully explore the statement that there are “too many” choices: it mainly presents choice as positive and does not consider possible disadvantages or clarify when choice becomes excessive. Some points are also under-developed, such as the claim that following trends helps people appear unique. To strengthen the response, explain the extent of your agreement more precisely and develop each example with a clear link to the idea of having too many options.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the ideas generally progress from trends and education to consumer choices. Linking phrases such as “To commence with,” “For instance” and “In conclusion” help signal stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, the shift from following trends to students choosing subjects is abrupt, and “According to my perspective” introduces a point that largely repeats the earlier claim rather than extending it. The conclusion also restates the main idea without drawing together the reasons. Use clearer links between each example and your central argument, and organise paragraphs around distinct reasons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “preferences,” “resources,” “trends,” “motivated” and “desired goals,” which allows you to discuss choice and its effects. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “their preferences are increasing,” “appears themselves as a unique personality,” and “achieve better goals.” “Choices are escalating” is also an awkward way to describe the growing number of options. Spelling and word-form slips, including “chnaged,” further reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “the range of options is expanding” and “present themselves as individuals,” and check spelling and phrasing during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if students have right to select whatever they want to study, then they would achieve better goals.” This gives the response some variety, and the main meaning is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, however: “Parents should allowed” needs a verb form after “should,” while “It may causes” should use the base form after “may.” There are also agreement and article problems in phrases such as “a successful person” after a plural subject and “have right.” Punctuation is inconsistent, for example the missing space after the comma in “on their own, then.” Review modal verb patterns, articles and subject–verb agreement, and proofread punctuation.
