Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people think that today's world there are various choices. I totally agree with this statement. On each an every field we have lots of opportunities and lots of choices. I will talk about the fields of education and employement.

Firstly, when it comes to education, there are lots of opportunities. In the past if we failed an exam our education journey ended up at that moment. But nowadays, if we fail one exam we can turn to another side to continue our education. These days there are lots of educational levels that anyone can do according to their capacity. Some examples are, certificate level, deploma level, degree, Masters level and Phd level. We can start our education in certificate level and can continue upto Phd level. Furthermore, there are too many institutes to learn. Unlike past, nowadys students can earn qualifications from those institutes by paying money. The countries like Sri Lanka only contained government education previously. But now it has been starting lots of private universities and it has expanded the opportunities to take education for students.

Secondly, in the job market there are various opportunities can be seen. People can enter to a job in one field and develop their career on another field. There are lots of enterprenaurs in these days and they helps to produce new jobs in the job market. People can find at least several job options according to their qualifications.

In conclusion, there are too many opportunities in the fields like education and jobs these days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the start: “I totally agree,” and the response stays focused on the idea that choices have increased, using education and employment as relevant areas. The education paragraph gives a concrete comparison with the past and mentions private universities in Sri Lanka, which helps support your point. However, the two areas are not developed equally: education includes examples and explanation, while the employment paragraph mainly asserts that people can change fields and that entrepreneurs create jobs. The response also treats “more choices” as “more opportunities” without considering whether this abundance can create difficulties or explaining the extent of your agreement beyond total agreement. Develop the employment example and explain the link between choice and its effects more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around education and employment, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow, and the Sri Lankan example is placed appropriately within the education discussion. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some of the clearer progression associated with a stronger response. However, the linking is somewhat mechanical, with each paragraph following a simple list-like pattern, and some connections between sentences are abrupt. For example, the move from educational levels to the availability of institutes could be explained more explicitly. Use a wider range of natural transitions and clearer references to connect examples to the main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “educational levels,” “qualifications,” “private universities,” “job market,” and “career.” These terms help distinguish the two areas discussed. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling, word-form, and collocation errors reduce precision, such as “employement,” “deploma,” “enterprenaurs,” and “enter to a job.” Some phrases are also vague or repetitive, including “lots of opportunities” and “various choices.” Aim for more precise expressions and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe the specific options available rather than repeatedly saying “lots.” These improvements would make your argument sound more controlled and natural without changing its meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if we fail one exam we can turn to another side” and a relative clause in “institutes to learn.” The main meaning is generally understandable, and the paragraphs contain some correctly formed sentences. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and prepositions recur. Examples include “today’s world there are various choices,” “On each an every field,” “there are various opportunities can be seen,” and “they helps to produce new jobs.” Some longer sentences also need clearer grammatical links between clauses. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and use articles and prepositions consistently; then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and a complete verb structure.
