Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people think we have been given excessive choices in the present age. I agree in this modern era people do have multiple choices due to the digitalization of work and social media.
Firstly, digitalization of work plays a significant part in people having more than one choice. Due to internet, work can be done online no matter the environment a person is sitting in. For example, in the past, people had to go to the office to perform their professional responsibilities but nowadays can perform the same tasks sitting at home, in a cafe or in the mountains, working remotely. Therefore, people can choose from different option according to their own comfort and convenience.
On the other hand, social media is a great medium, which gives people different choices. In ancient times, people had few options to choose for their career but now due to the progression of social media such as youtube, instagram, tiktok, people can make their careers online. As a result, people have freedom to make their own career decisions without getting instructions from senior personnel or a boss, which is huge thing especially for people belong to middle class who can't financially invest in a business.
In conclusion, people can choose from different professions according to their level of interest and area of expertise. The digitalization of work and social media has brought this revolution of people having many choices and this change can brought more progress and creativity if used well in the coming generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that people now have more choices, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons—remote work and career opportunities through social media. The examples of working from home or a café and creating an online career help explain your points. However, the discussion focuses mainly on work and careers, so the broader claim about having “too many choices” is not fully explored; for instance, you could consider whether this abundance creates pressure or makes decisions harder. The social-media point is also less developed: explain more specifically how platforms create career options and support the claim that there are excessive choices. This would make the response more fully developed and balanced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the stages easy to follow, and each body paragraph has a central topic. However, “On the other hand” suggests a contrast, while the second paragraph adds another reason supporting your agreement; a connector such as “Furthermore” would express the relationship more accurately. Some links between claims and explanations are also abrupt, particularly the move from social media to financial barriers. The conclusion repeats the main ideas but could synthesise them more clearly. Use referencing and transitions to show how each example supports the central argument, rather than relying mainly on formulaic signposts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “digitalization,” “professional responsibilities,” “remotely,” “convenience,” and “career decisions,” which allows you to discuss work and online careers clearly. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “plays a significant part.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “given excessive choices,” “different option,” and “make their careers online.” “Ancient times” is also too strong for the comparison intended. These choices do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for more idiomatic combinations and check singular/plural forms and word forms when editing; this would make your vocabulary more flexible and accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “Due to internet, work can be done online no matter the environment…” and a relative clause in “a great medium, which gives people different choices.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “people belong to middle class” needs a relative construction and an article, while “this change can brought” has an incorrect verb form. There are also missing articles or prepositions in phrases such as “Due to internet” and “choose for their career.” Review articles, verb patterns and agreement, and proofread longer sentences for complete, well-formed clauses. Greater accuracy across these structures would strengthen the response.
