Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is undeniable due to advancement in each and every field, life provides numerous choice. In this regard, people assume that in the modern world everyone have a lot of choices. I agree to a large extent with this notion due to many reasons which will be outlined in the forthcoming paragraph with a logical conclusion.
To commence with, due to a number of choices people got confuse easily and start questioning their decision. Apart from this, it can be a lot of time consuming since they need to take a deep research and investigation for making a appropirate choice. For example, when a student apply for counselling for the admission in allied health couses, there will be a given number of colleges and a list of couses. In that case, it becomes frustating as well as hard to make a perfect choice for themselves.
On the other hand, it could be beneficial as number of choices can help someone to choose better which suits their taste. First and foremost, it enhances their decision making skills and make them feel independent. Moreover, people have oppourtunity to explore and geting access to more new options. For example, people have many shopping apps and that is why they have an option to explore and campare prizes and offers of a specific product.
In conclusion, although it has some demerits such as confusion and regret but in my opinion, merits are far more such as exploration, accessibility and decision making skills. Because choices makes us feel independent and also let us do what we want.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree to a large extent, and the conclusion reinforces this by weighing the benefits against confusion and regret. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including students choosing colleges and shoppers comparing products. These examples make the discussion concrete. However, the student-counselling example mainly illustrates difficulty choosing, while the benefits of choice are supported more generally; the claim that choices improve decision-making skills, for instance, needs explanation or a specific example. The opening also promises reasons and a conclusion rather than introducing the main argument directly. To strengthen the response, develop each key reason more fully and show precisely how it supports your overall view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on disadvantages, a paragraph on benefits, and a conclusion. The contrast signalled by “On the other hand” helps readers follow the shift in argument, and examples are placed alongside the relevant points. Some linking, however, feels formulaic: “To commence with,” “First and foremost,” and “Moreover” announce points without always showing how they connect. The final sentence beginning “Because” is also a fragment, so the conclusion does not flow smoothly. Improve progression by linking each example explicitly to the claim it supports and varying transitions; clearer references to what “it” or “this” means would also make connections more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-relevant vocabulary, including “decision making skills,” “independent,” “explore,” and “accessibility,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “in this regard” and “in my opinion.” However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the expression less natural: “people got confuse,” “deep research,” “perfect choice,” and “campare prizes” are examples. Repetition of “choices” and “people” also limits flexibility. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “become confused,” “conduct research,” and “compare prices,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help express the distinction between having options and making a suitable decision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a concession in “although it has some demerits” and a relative clause in “which suits their taste.” The overall meaning remains clear, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “everyone have” should be “everyone has,” “a student apply” needs “applies,” and “choices makes us” should be “choices make us.” The final “Because choices…” is a dependent clause used as a sentence, while “life provides numerous choice” also needs a plural noun. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and complete sentence structure, then proofread articles and verb forms while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
