Student answer (Band 6.0)

With the advancement of the technology, it is believed by the proportion of people that we have manifold choices in the present era. In my view, the provision of internet and the continuous advancement in the technology we have numberable options to choose from.

To begin with, to achieve higher education, a student can select mode of education. For instance, students from rular areas if dont want to commute daily can get access to higher education through online platforms. Along with that, teachers nowadays have options to teach online which reduce their commute time and is economic friendly as they dont have to pay for fuel cost. In addition to that, nowadays we have various communication methods. For instance, if we want an instant reponse we can call directly or we can message, in comparison to the past when we have no choice but to wait as it take two or more days for letters to reach the person.

Additionally, now employers can take interviews online instead of face-to-face,which was time consuming back in days, as one has to travel for it; if there is no cummute to reach, applicant may get rejected. However, they now have option of online interview. Furthermore, we now have more food choices. We can access every restaurant online and buy desired food to eat. However in the past, one has to go to restaurant for the food and delivery was not possible.

To conclude, nowadays people have significant number of options to choose from, but it can cause a deterimental effect if the selection is wrong. People need to be careful in making choices to have a secure future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that modern life offers more choices, and you support this with relevant examples involving education, communication, employment and food. The comparison between online interviews and travelling for face-to-face interviews also helps address how options have changed. However, the discussion is not equally developed across these examples. The education and communication points include some explanation of their benefits, while the food example is brief and largely repeats the contrast with the past. The concluding warning that a wrong choice can have a detrimental effect introduces a useful qualification, but this idea is not explained or connected to your main argument. Develop fewer examples more fully and clarify the extent of your agreement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas are generally grouped sensibly: the first body paragraph covers education and communication, while the second discusses interviews and food. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “In addition to that” and “Furthermore” make the progression easy to follow. At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical, and several examples are added one after another without showing how they relate to the central claim. The contrast with the past is also repeated in both paragraphs. Use fewer signposting phrases, make the relationship between examples explicit, and ensure that the final qualification follows logically from the discussion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “higher education,” “communication methods,” “face-to-face” and “online platforms,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal or less common wording, such as “manifold choices” and “detrimental effect.” However, some choices are unnatural or inaccurate: “numberable options,” “economic friendly” and “instant reponse” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “rular,” “cummute” and “deterimental” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than elevated-sounding words, and proofread spelling carefully. A more consistent range of accurate topic vocabulary would make the argument more fluent and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional and relative structures, and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, verb forms, agreement and articles. For example, “students from rular areas if dont want to commute daily can get access” needs a clearer conditional structure, while “which reduce their commute time and is economic friendly” has an agreement problem. In “when we have no choice but to wait as it take two or more days,” the tense and subject–verb agreement are inconsistent. Punctuation is also sometimes faulty, as in the comma joined directly to “which was time consuming.” Review sentence boundaries and check each clause for a clear subject, correct verb form and consistent tense.
