Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people argue that, we have the opportunity to chose from various options. I firmly agree with this statement, as avaibility of choices has increased significantly because of product variations.

In the modern era, products are developing quickly and it creates competition among the suppliers. So, many companies are introducing unique ideas regarding the same product, which creates various types of a item and offers to chose from these, which increases the number of choices. For example, Clothing sector has improved a lot and a healthy competition is present among the suppliers. It influences producers to manufacture various design of shirts such as half sleeve shirt, full sleeve shirt, plain design, striped design, jaquard design, and many more to attract customers. These variety of one item increase the number of choices significantly, as people can chose according to their taste.

In addition, products which are used for the same purpose have variations, which helps people to chose the product according to their need, financial status, and environment. For example, In the summer season people look for cooling machines. There are a huge variety of products for cooling such as air conditioners, ceiling fans, recharchable fans, and air cooler. Those, who can afford an air conditioner, will buy it. Those who have financial problems may prefer a fan to an AC because of low cost. Those, who struggles for load shedding, may chose a rechargable fan. Therefore, people find various choices on a product and they can chose according to their need.

In conclusion, product variation is increasing day by day, which offers many options. Therefore, the increasing options play a vital role in rising choices.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you firmly agree that people now have more choices, and both body paragraphs give relevant reasons. The clothing example shows how competition creates variations within one product, while the cooling-equipment example explains how different options suit people’s needs and budgets. These examples support the main claim, and the conclusion returns to it. However, the discussion focuses almost entirely on product choice, so the broader claim about having “too many” choices is not fully examined. In particular, you could explain whether this abundance has drawbacks, or clarify why it is beneficial despite being excessive. Developing that aspect and extending the reasoning behind each example would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two focused body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The progression from variations within one product to alternatives serving the same purpose is logical, and signposts such as “In addition” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. Some linking is repetitive or mechanical, however: “which” and “Therefore” recur, and the second example’s sequence of “Those who…” sentences could be connected more smoothly. There is also a slightly unclear reference in “These variety of one item,” which interrupts the flow. To strengthen cohesion, vary the ways you connect cause and effect, and use precise references such as “these product variations” rather than relying repeatedly on “which.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “competition,” “suppliers,” “financial status,” and “according to their need,” and the examples make your meaning generally clear. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “striped design” and “load shedding.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “availability of choices” is awkward in this context, “a item” is incorrect, and “various design of shirts” does not express the intended meaning naturally. Spelling errors such as “avaibility,” “jaquard,” and “rechargable” are noticeable. Build a more accurate range of collocations for discussing consumer choice, and check spelling and singular/plural forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “as,” “which,” and “because,” and the overall meaning remains understandable. Some sentence patterns are handled successfully, such as “Those who can afford an air conditioner, will buy it,” though the comma is unnecessary. There are also recurring errors in agreement, articles, and verb forms: “it creates competition” follows a plural subject (“products”), “a item” needs a different article, and “Those, who struggles” has incorrect agreement. The opening comma after “argue” is also misplaced. These errors show that complex structures are being attempted, but control is not yet consistent. Review subject–verb agreement, article use, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a clear grammatical subject and verb.
