Student answer (Band 5.5)
Choices are made when we have too many options at hand. As the world is emerging towards a more modernized structure, mindset of people are also changing which enables them to explore many options thus, the flexibility of making choices based on their options.
Nowadays, people are thriving towards betterment. If they get to explore one option then they thrive towards the other. Everyone wants to explore all the options and then make one decision. For example, if a student wants to take admission in university of a certain state, he or she will instinctly try to explore all the universities of that specific state before finally choosing one.
Again, the competition regarding performing the best all around the world is increasing rapidly. Everyone wants to get the best job, best environment and the best employee. For instance, if a person gets offer letter of job from 2 companies, he will definitely first compare the salary range, work environment and then make his choice.
However, sometimes having too many options can lead us to overanalyzing the situation and make a wrong decision. Such as, a person got admission letter from a top university and a low rank university and just to save some money, he or she took admission in the low rank one. As a result, after the completion of his or her degree, managing job was too difficult for him or her.
Therefore, it is safe to conclude that choices are there because of the options we have available at hand but it's really important to remember that sometimes the best choice is to believe in oneself and rely on the instincts rather than overanalyzing the option and make a wrong choice.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question by discussing both the availability of choices and the possible drawback of having too many, and your final sentence gives a position that people should sometimes trust their instincts. The examples about university selection and comparing job offers are relevant. However, the extent of your agreement is not stated clearly at the beginning, and the essay mainly describes how people compare options rather than explaining whether there are genuinely too many choices today. The university example about choosing a lower-ranked institution is also not fully explained: the link between saving money, the decision, and later difficulty finding work needs clearer support. State your degree of agreement directly and develop each example to show how it supports that view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two paragraphs about making choices, a paragraph on a disadvantage, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement, and transitions such as “However” and “Therefore” help signal the shift to your counterpoint and conclusion. Some connections are less clear or feel mechanical, though. “Again” does not clearly show how the competition paragraph relates to the previous point, while “Therefore” introduces a conclusion that largely repeats the opening idea. The examples also need more explicit links to the main argument. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s role, and make references such as “this situation” or “this illustrates” clarify how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “options,” “overanalyzing,” “competition,” and “work environment,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “it is safe to conclude.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “thriving towards betterment,” “explore one option,” and “managing job” do not express the intended ideas clearly. “Instinctly” is also an inaccurate form. Repetition of “best” and “options” makes the vocabulary range seem limited. Aim for natural combinations such as “strive for improvement,” “consider alternatives,” and “secure employment,” and check word forms and spelling when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “If they get to explore one option…” and a contrast introduced by “However.” Most of the main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “mindset of people are also changing” has an agreement problem, and “a person got admission letter” is missing an article and uses an unsuitable tense in this context. The final sentence also shifts awkwardly from “is” to “make” in “the best choice is to believe… and rely… rather than overanalyzing… and make.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and parallel verb forms. Breaking some long sentences into clearer units would also help you control complex structures.
