Student answer (Band 5.5)

Currently, most people believe that they have more choices to adopt, in contrast to the past. I totally agree with the statement, because it is growing era of technologies, though which people have made the perceptions in their minds that every thing could be possible. Due to these perceptions laying in the mind of the people, creates many possibilities and even choices for themselves. Furthermore, technology has evolved the world very differently that its advantages reflect in people's lives. For example, People can decide whether to go for a physical shopping or an online shopping, people would make choices to cook the food at home or to get the food from the market. These instances have provided many options for the people to adopt.

No doubt, technologies have created many opportunities for the people as well. For example, In the past, students struggle with their educations, as it were not common among the people, which led the people uneducated. But in this era, science and technology has provided enough awarness among the people, so that they make choices according to their interest. For example, many students struggle with the university's entry test and don't get a chance to secure their seats, because of the merit, so they prefer to go for another options. Subsequently, many students also make choices to get their education done from their home country or from the abroad.

Overall, it has been observed that due to the opportunities and possibilities, it become easier for the people to make necessary decisions related to their lives. Although, these decisions impacted the individuals as well, but its has higher advantages on people's life than disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: “I totally agree,” and the response stays focused on the idea that modern life offers more choices. You support this with relevant examples, including online versus physical shopping, food choices, and students selecting alternative education routes. This addresses the task, but some points are not fully explained. For instance, the discussion of students’ university entry tests shifts from increased choice to difficulty securing a place, without clearly showing how this demonstrates that people have too many choices. The conclusion also says the advantages are greater than the disadvantages, although the essay does not develop disadvantages. To strengthen the response, explain more directly why the range of options can be excessive and develop each example’s connection to your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs give examples, and a final paragraph summarises your position. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “Overall” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The transition from technology creating opportunities to students failing university entry tests does not make the relationship between the example and the main claim explicit. Repeated use of “For example” also makes the progression feel formulaic, while “Although” introduces a contrast that is not clearly developed. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, and add clearer explanations between examples and the claim they support.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “possibilities,” “opportunities,” “merit,” and “decisions,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts to express abstract ideas about technology and choice. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “choices to adopt,” “growing era of technologies,” and “make their education done.” “Awarness” is also misspelled, and repeated use of “people,” “choices,” and “technology” limits flexibility. Aim for more natural topic-specific phrases and check spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would make your argument clearer and help distinguish between having many options and having too many options.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses beginning with “because,” “as,” and “although,” and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, some errors in sentence construction and agreement reduce accuracy. For example, “Due to these perceptions laying in the mind of the people, creates many possibilities” has no clear grammatical subject for “creates,” and “science and technology has provided” should use a plural verb. Other examples include “it become easier” and “its has higher advantages,” where verb forms and agreement are incorrect. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “Although, these decisions…” Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, especially in longer clauses.
