Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued by few people that in contemporary society we have excessive options which creates confusions. While, rest of the folks belive that it is beneficial to have many choices. From my perspective i would adopt a hybrid approach, i will discuss both drawbacks and merits and keep it balance.

Commencing with the first issue of having more choices, It leads to confusion, anxiety or stress because having excessive options you get nervous that which option should i choose for instance: selecting a career if you have too many preferences you get overwhelmed and you would not be able to choose any one appropriate option that is best suitable for you, moreover if you choose any one option you might regret and perhaps you would think at certain point that i had a numerous preferences and i should have choosen this option.

On the other hand, having a substantial preferences could be advantageous, one of the major argument is it gives you freedom to choose any one of them without any mental and social pressure according to your interest to illustrate: a student he has to choose any one subjects for their higher studies among subjects mathematics, physics, computer and chemistry, Independence to choose any one you could select according to your interest.

A balance perspective doemonstrate that excessive preferences leads to depression. Whereas, it could be helpful by mitigating pressure and providing a freedom.

In essence, in today era having much option cause stress. In contrast independence is also essential in order to attain satisfaction.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the issue and state a qualified position: “I would adopt a hybrid approach.” The career-choice example supports the drawback of having many options, while the student’s subject choices illustrate the benefit of freedom. However, the position is not fully sustained: the conclusion says that options cause stress but does not clearly explain how you balance this against independence. Several points are asserted rather than developed, such as the claim that excessive preferences lead to depression, and the examples could explain their consequences more precisely. To strengthen the response, make your degree of agreement explicit and develop one or two reasons with clearer explanation and specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to drawbacks, benefits, a balancing statement and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” help signal the shift between opposing views. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, and the short paragraph beginning “A balance perspective” largely repeats earlier points instead of advancing the argument. Some connections are unclear, particularly the long career-choice sentence, where several ideas are joined together and the reader must work out how regret relates to confusion. The conclusion also introduces “satisfaction” without developing it earlier. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long explanations into manageable sentences, and make each paragraph build toward your stated position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “excessive options,” “overwhelmed,” “mental and social pressure,” and “independence.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both the emotional costs and benefits of choice. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “a substantial preferences,” “a numerous preferences,” and “much option” make the meaning less natural, while “depression” is stronger than the argument supports. Spelling errors such as “belive,” “choosen,” and “doemonstrate” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling and singular/plural forms; this will make your ideas easier to follow and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because” and a contrast introduced by “Whereas.” However, complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to control, and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “having excessive options you get nervous that which option should i choose” has an unclear clause structure, while “a student he has to choose any one subjects” contains problems with sentence construction and agreement. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “While, rest of the folks” and the lower-case “i.” Practise forming complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and breaking long sentences into shorter, accurate units.
