Student answer (Band 5.0)

In recent years the way technology and living things change a significant number of people believe that nowadays we have too many choices. I agree with the statement but I also think that it effects people lives.

The way technology changes is the biggest part of this thought. This is largely because technology gives new ideas to work on and makes things easy for people. As a consequence, the hard work shifts into easy ways to handle any kind of work and save time. A good example of this can be seen in startups, indiviudal have lots of ideas to start a business and have different kinds of choices of building a business.

Another point worth considering is that with too many choices, confusion also enter into people lives. In particular, with too many choices individulas are not able to take right decsion what they really want to do in theuir life . This can have a singnificabnt effect on person mental helath becouse they are tired of things that they have many ideas but they can not full files their dreams to get those. For instance, they have many choiese and they only select one from them like a profession what they want to become doctor, engineer ects. Taken together , these points suggest that we have many choises but these came up with negatives affects with them.

to sum up, there are reasonable argumenats on both sides of this issue. However, i believe we have too many choices with compare then past.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position by saying, “I agree,” and develop two relevant points: technology expands the options available, while too many choices can cause confusion and affect mental health. The example of choosing a profession helps illustrate the second point, but the startup example is not clearly connected to why there are too many choices, and several claims remain general or unclear. The conclusion also introduces “reasonable arguments on both sides,” although the essay mainly supports agreement, so your position is not fully consistent. The response is 244 words, six words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or specific example, and make your position consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate the technology point from the effects of choice. Linking phrases such as “As a consequence,” “In particular” and “For instance” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the startup example does not clearly explain the preceding claim, and the long sentence about professions combines several ideas without clear relationships. Some transitions are mechanical, while “Taken together” repeats the point rather than drawing the discussion forward. Improve cohesion by ordering each paragraph as claim, explanation and example, and use clear references so readers can see how each sentence supports the main argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “technology,” “choices,” “confusion,” “profession” and “mental health.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the argument difficult to understand. Examples include “effects people lives,” “take right decsion,” “full files their dreams” and “negatives affects.” These errors sometimes obscure your intended meaning, particularly in the discussion of people’s ambitions. Aim for accurate, natural phrases rather than trying to express several ideas with imprecise wording. Proofread spelling carefully, and learn common combinations such as “make a decision,” “affect people’s lives” and “fulfil their ambitions.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including “This is largely because…” and “In particular, with too many choices…”. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles and punctuation frequently make the meaning harder to follow. For example, “confusion also enter” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “individauls are not able to take right decsion what they really want to do” lacks grammatical elements needed to express the idea clearly. The opening sentence is also difficult to parse because its clauses are not clearly connected. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea at a time, then check agreement, articles and sentence boundaries before adding complex clauses.
