Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart illustrates the production and consumption of electricity of top ten countries in 2014.
Overall, it is clear that china recorded the hisgedt figure among all the countries with a significant amount of numbers, while United States stood at the second highest. However, Korea, rep accounted the lowest figure compared with all the other countries.
China and United States stood at the top accounting the production of 5,398 and 4,099 billion kWh and consumption of 5,322 and 3,866 billion kWh respectively. India, japan, Russia accounted a moderate number of production to 871, 969.2, 1057 billion kWh and consuming 698.8, 856.7, 1038 billion Kwh a year respectively.
Korea, Rep recporded the lowest number with 485.1 in production and 449.5 in consumption. Other countries such as Germany, Brazil, France and Canada accounted figures range varies from 530.7 to 618.9 billon kwin production and in consumption it was from 455.8 to 499.9 billon kWh.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main leaders and the lowest-ranked country, and your overview correctly notes China’s and the United States’ dominance and Korea’s low figures. Several comparisons are supported with relevant data, including the two leaders’ production and consumption. However, some details are inaccurate: Japan’s production is 936.2, not 969.2, and the statement that Germany, Brazil, France and Canada all fall within the stated production range overlooks Germany’s lower production of 526.6. Germany is also a notable exception in consumption, at 582.5, higher than its production and above the other countries in that group, but this is not reported. The response covers the task, though some selected features are less fully and accurately presented than others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs grouping the leading and lower-producing countries. This gives the reader a generally logical route through the information, and words such as “Overall,” “However,” and “respectively” help signal relationships. The grouping in the final paragraph is less effective, though, because it combines four countries into a broad range without clearly matching each figure to its country; the consumption range also omits Germany’s distinct value. Some phrasing, such as “accounting the production,” makes the relationship between ideas harder to follow. To strengthen progression, organise comparisons more precisely and use clear references when moving between production and consumption.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “figure,” and “accounted,” and you attempt a range of ways to describe quantities. However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “accounted the lowest figure” and “stood at the top accounting the production” are not natural ways to describe the data. Spelling errors such as “hisgedt,” “recporded,” and “billon” are noticeable, while inconsistent capitalisation of country names also affects presentation. Some expressions, including “a moderate number,” are vague for numerical data. Aim for accurate, conventional phrases such as “recorded the lowest output” and “produced” or “consumed” a stated amount.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some longer structures, including the sentence comparing China and the United States with “respectively.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “the production and consumption of electricity of top ten countries” needs a clearer article and preposition pattern, while “India, japan, Russia accounted a moderate number of production” has problems with sentence structure and the verb pattern. In “Other countries … accounted figures range varies,” the clause is not grammatically complete. There are also inconsistent forms in “and consuming” after “accounted.” Practise building accurate comparison sentences with parallel structures, such as “X produced…, while it consumed…”.
