Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar chart elaborates the data of top ten countries which are related in the manufacturing and utilization of electricity in 2014.
The major production and consumption of electric source was by China and the minor was by Korea Republic.
China showed the peak in formation of electricity with the value of 5,398 kWh then 4,099 by United States, Russia 1,057 , Japan 936.2, India 871, Canada 618.9, France 561.2, 530.7 by Brazil, Germany 526.6, Korea 485.1.

Russia was among the countries which accounts less formation and using also minimum number
Consequently , in this not much differences were seen in overall generation and usage within the same country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the main leaders correctly: China has the highest production and consumption, while Korea is among the lowest, and you attempt to compare figures across countries. However, the overview is incomplete and the report contains important inaccuracies. In particular, consumption in China is written as “53.22” rather than 5,322, and the sentence “then Russia and China” misidentifies Japan, whose consumption is 856.7. The claim that Russia accounts for “less formation” is also misleading, as it ranks third in both measures. The final statement that there is “not much differences” is too broad, especially given the substantial production-consumption gaps in India and Canada. Select the key comparisons accurately and summarise them more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a production list, a consumption comparison, and a concluding observation. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “Consequently” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the progression is weakened by long lists of figures and unclear relationships between them. For example, “then Russia and China with values of 1,038 and 856.7” makes the country-value pairing confusing, while the final sentence does not clearly follow from the preceding comparisons. Paragraphing is limited, and the report would be easier to follow if production and consumption were presented in separate, organised sections, with an overview of the main pattern before the details.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “production,” “consumption,” “value,” and “generation,” and you attempt to vary wording with “manufacturing” and “utilization.” However, several choices are unnatural or inaccurate for describing a chart. “Elaborates the data” and “formation of electricity” do not express the intended meaning naturally; “shows” and “electricity production” would be clearer. “Electric source” is also imprecise, and “minor differences” does not accurately describe the comparisons being made. The phrase “peak in formation” is an awkward way to identify the highest figure. Aim for precise, conventional chart language and avoid replacing key terms with near-synonyms that change or obscure their meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences containing comparisons, but control is inconsistent. Errors in sentence structure and agreement appear in phrases such as “The major production and consumption … was by China,” where the compound subject calls for a plural verb, and “Russia was among the countries which accounts,” where the verb form does not agree with its subject. The sentence beginning “On the other hand” becomes difficult to parse because several comparisons are joined without clear grammatical structure. There are also problems with articles and punctuation, including inconsistent spacing around commas and the fragment-like sequence of country names and figures. Use complete sentences with clear subject-verb patterns, and check agreement and punctuation when listing data.
