Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the chart, including the clear leaders (China and the USA) and the lowest-ranked country (Korea). You also made a relevant comparison regarding the gap between the top two and the rest of the list. However, the report could be improved by grouping the remaining countries more effectively rather than simply stating they fall within a range. To reach a higher band, ensure that all significant data points are clearly supported by the provided figures, as your summary of the 'other' countries is a bit vague compared to the specific data provided for the top three.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that follow a sensible progression. You use cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally' to link your ideas. However, the transition between the overview and the detailed body paragraphs could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the information flows well from the highest producers to the lowest, making the report easy to follow for the reader.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Phrases like 'across the globe', 'massive gap', and 'generating and consuming' are used accurately. While the vocabulary is functional and appropriate for the task, it lacks the more sophisticated or 'less common' lexical items that would elevate the response to a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'ranking', 'producing', and 'consuming' to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.5

Your grammar is generally accurate, and you use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is handled well. There are no major errors that impede communication. To achieve a higher score, you could experiment with more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or participial phrases to combine data points, which would demonstrate greater control over grammatical range.
