Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries and comparing production and consumption figures. You successfully highlighted the main features, such as China's dominance and the unique case of Germany, where consumption exceeded production. However, the report is somewhat list-like, relying heavily on strings of data rather than synthesising the information into broader trends. To reach a higher band, focus on grouping countries by their characteristics (e.g., high-output nations vs. those with lower output) rather than listing them individually. The overview is present but could be more analytical regarding the overall relationship between production and consumption.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'All in all' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing within sentences is occasionally clunky, such as 'in respect' or 'in the matter of fact'. The progression of ideas is clear, but the flow between individual country data points could be smoother to avoid a repetitive structure. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and supports the logical development of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, including terms like 'production', 'consumption', and 'rate'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'maximum number of electricity production' (should be 'highest level of electricity production') and 'in respect' (which is misused here). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Attempting to use more varied reporting verbs or synonyms for 'high' and 'low' would improve the quality of your lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the bar maximum number' (missing 'chart'), 'the India' (unnecessary article), and 'the country to had consumption rate' (incorrect verb form). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction that occasionally hinder the flow. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve your accuracy.
