Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries and comparing production and consumption. You have successfully highlighted the main features, such as China's leading position and the contrast between production and consumption in countries like Germany. However, the report could be improved by ensuring data accuracy; for instance, the comparison between Japan and South Korea is slightly confusing in its phrasing. Additionally, while you mention France and Brazil, you do not provide the specific data points for them, which limits the depth of your analysis. To reach a higher band, ensure all key data points mentioned are clearly supported by the figures provided in the chart.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall,' 'While,' and 'Compared to,' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'Germany and Korea, rep. were the least recorded,' which is grammatically unclear. The transition between the general overview and the specific data points is functional, but the paragraphing could be more refined to separate the data into more logical groupings. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates,' 'generation,' 'consumption,' and 'accounted for.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'composition of electric power' instead of 'electricity production' and 'current' used to refer to electricity in a way that is not standard in this context. You attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but these attempts are sometimes slightly inaccurate. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology related to data reporting and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate for a formal report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'United stated was the second highest' (missing article and incorrect verb form) and 'Germany and Korea, rep. were the least recorded' (awkward syntax). There are also issues with punctuation and missing articles throughout the text. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
