Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main features and provided some data, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have only included three of the ten countries mentioned in the chart, failing to provide a comprehensive summary of the data provided. To improve, you must ensure you cover all key aspects of the prompt and provide a more detailed comparison of the data points across the entire set, rather than focusing only on the extremes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, because the response is quite short and lacks depth, the progression of ideas feels somewhat abrupt. To reach a higher band, ensure that your paragraphs are more balanced and that you use a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect the data points more fluidly throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, with terms like 'generation', 'consumption', and 'proportion'. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are also some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'utilized 5322 billion' (which lacks a unit of measurement) and 'generation at 449.5 kWh' (which contradicts the unit used earlier). To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'compare' to demonstrate a more flexible range of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are some grammatical errors, such as 'Russia had shown the same proportion' (past perfect is not necessary here) and '5398 billion energy' (missing a noun like 'kWh'). There are also inconsistencies in the data reporting, such as confusing 'production' and 'consumption' labels in your description of the United States. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent terminology will help improve your accuracy.
