Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully identifies the main features of the bar chart, such as the dominance of China and the U.S.A. and the unique position of Germany regarding consumption. You have selected relevant data points to support your summary. However, the report could be improved by providing more specific comparisons for the remaining countries (e.g., Russia, Japan, India) rather than grouping them together with vague descriptions. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide a more detailed overview of the trends across all ten countries, rather than focusing heavily on the top two.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Overall' to guide the reader. However, the transition between the overview and the body paragraph is slightly abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas flows more naturally between sentences, particularly when comparing the data of the different nations.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption', 'production', and 'generation' correctly. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, and there are minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'first country' instead of 'leading country' or 'highest producer'. To achieve a higher score, incorporate more precise academic collocations and avoid repeating the same phrasing when describing the figures for different countries.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'U.S.A was the second highest country that produced' (should be 'second-highest producer') and 'Germany was only country' (missing article 'the'). Additionally, there is a subject-verb agreement error in 'South korea has similar level' (should be 'have similar levels'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score in this criterion.
