Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview or accurately report the main features. The identification of countries is incomplete, and the data points provided are often inaccurate or poorly presented (e.g., 'Kara' is not a country on the chart). The comparison between production and consumption is superficial, and the conclusion contains a logical error by suggesting countries should 'build more electricity' based on the data. To improve, you must focus on identifying the highest and lowest values accurately and grouping countries by trends rather than listing them individually with errors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused, such as 'On the other hand' and 'Moreover', which do not logically connect the ideas presented. The referencing is unclear, and the overall structure lacks a coherent flow. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the summary does not effectively synthesize the information provided in the body, leading to a disjointed reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'manufacturing' for electricity production and 'neutral' to describe the similarity between production and consumption. The student struggles to use appropriate terminology for data interpretation. Spelling errors, such as 'ad' for 'and' and 'us' for 'US', further detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise terminology related to statistics and data description.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Canada havin'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. The punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and capitalization. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often faulty and unclear. The lack of control over basic grammatical rules makes the text difficult to follow and significantly lowers the overall quality of the writing.
