Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the chart, such as the leading positions of China and the United States and the anomaly of Germany's consumption exceeding production. You have also made relevant comparisons between the countries. However, the response could be improved by providing a more comprehensive overview of the data. While you mentioned the top two and the bottom one, a more systematic grouping or a clearer summary of the overall trends across the ten countries would strengthen the response. The data points are generally accurate, but ensure that all comparisons are clearly linked to the provided figures to fully satisfy the requirements for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction followed by body paragraphs that group information by country or trend. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'In 2014' to guide the reader. However, the transition between paragraphs could be smoother, and the use of cohesive devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the flow between the specific data points could be improved to create a more cohesive narrative. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to the repetitive structure of the descriptions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'generated', 'utilized', and 'consumption' correctly. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'wolrd', 'Gemany', 'prodcution', and 'Elecetricity', which detract from the overall quality. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'the minor of all differences'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary with greater precision and ensure that spelling is accurate throughout the text. The current range is sufficient to convey the meaning but lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'compares that how much', 'in year 2014' (missing 'the'), and 'the country who failed' (should be 'which'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositions. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of relative pronouns would help improve your accuracy. You should proofread your work to catch these minor slips.
