Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies the main features of the chart, such as China's leading position and the general comparison between production and consumption. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you state India generates 871 while it produces 698.8, which is confusing and contradictory. Furthermore, the claim that Canada, France, Brazil, and Germany are 'going hand in hand' is vague and lacks the necessary statistical support to be considered a clear overview. To improve, ensure that data points are cited accurately and that comparisons are supported by specific figures from the chart rather than general observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inappropriate. Phrases like 'On the first hand' (which is non-standard) and 'Moving to next' are used to link ideas, but they do not create a smooth flow of information. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly in the paragraph discussing Canada, France, Brazil, and Germany, where the grouping of countries feels arbitrary. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'produces', 'consumption', and 'countries'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'quietly high' (likely meant 'quite high') and 'produces current' (which is not standard terminology for electricity generation). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surpass', 'account for', 'marginal', or 'significant discrepancy'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The bar chart demonstrate'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures. The use of punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and the use of backticks instead of standard apostrophes. While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often faulty or poorly constructed. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and article usage would be a beneficial next step.
