Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the bar chart, identifying the top producers and consumers. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and contains inaccuracies. For instance, you state the consumption in the US was 3,866, but the chart shows 3,866 for production, not consumption. Furthermore, the comparison between China and the US is confusingly phrased, and the description of the remaining countries lacks clarity. While you have selected key features, the lack of precision in reporting the data and the failure to clearly contrast production versus consumption across all mentioned countries limits the effectiveness of the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover, declined the power generation' do not flow naturally and sometimes create confusion. The logical progression between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the discussion of Japan/India and the subsequent list of other countries. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the internal cohesion needs more careful management to ensure smooth transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, using terms like 'generation', 'utilization', 'output', and 'inclined'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'consumption ratio' (when referring to absolute figures) and 'inclined by' (used incorrectly to describe a difference). Some phrasing is repetitive, and the misuse of technical terms suggests a need for more precise vocabulary usage when describing statistical data. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall control of vocabulary is limited by these persistent inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the report. Examples include 'the both consumption and production... was the highest' (subject-verb agreement), 'declined the power generation from 618.9' (missing subject), and 'there were also rising trend' (article usage). These errors are frequent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to parse. While the attempt to use complex structures is evident, the lack of control over basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
