Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the bar chart, identifying the top producers and consumers. However, the analysis is somewhat limited. While you mention China and the US, you fail to provide a comprehensive overview of the other countries listed in the top ten, which is necessary for a fully developed response. The comparison between production and consumption is attempted, but the data interpretation is slightly inconsistent (e.g., the claim about Germany's deficit is accurate, but the overall summary lacks depth regarding the remaining eight countries). To reach a higher band, ensure you group data more effectively to highlight trends across the entire dataset rather than focusing only on the top two.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'As a general trend', and 'On the contrary', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'While, United States generated...'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the data more logically to avoid jumping between specific figures and general trends. The flow is generally clear, but it lacks the sophisticated, unobtrusive linking required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'forerunners', 'utilised', and 'surplus'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and spelling, such as 'noteble' (notable), 'defcit' (deficit), and 'te' (the). The phrasing 'Korea. Rep.' is also non-standard. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, it lacks the precision and flexibility needed for a higher score. To improve, focus on using more varied collocations related to data reporting and ensure careful proofreading to eliminate minor spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('United States were topmost country', 'Germany holds the lowest rank'—should be 'hold' or 'rank'), and punctuation errors (e.g., the misuse of commas after 'While' and 'however'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of complex sentence structures, ensuring that subordinate clauses are punctuated correctly.
