The bar chart illustrate the comparison between top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

In China, which stood first in ranking, the production of electricity is 5,398 (billion kWh) and the consumption of the other hand has 5,322 (billion kWh) which is almost the same as the production capacity. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, identifying the top two countries and noting the general trends in production versus consumption. However, the report lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the data effectively. While the figures for China and the US are provided, the grouping of the other countries is somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should avoid listing countries individually and instead focus on identifying broader patterns, such as which countries are net producers versus net consumers. The inclusion of specific data points is accurate, but the overall summary could be more sophisticated by highlighting the most significant disparities or similarities across the ten nations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a report. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the top producers to a comparison of the remaining countries. However, the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the phrase 'in Japan, India, Canada, France and Brazil have more production', where the grammatical structure is disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that cohesive devices are used to link ideas more naturally would enhance the coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Phrases like 'eye caching' (likely intended as 'eye-catching') and 'minorly lower' are non-standard or awkward. The use of 'ranking' is repetitive, and the report relies on basic descriptors. To improve, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data analysis, such as 'surpassed', 'exceeded', 'marginal difference', or 'predominant'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of sophisticated lexical choices limits the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, 'The bar chart illustrate' (subject-verb agreement error), 'consumption of the other hand has' (incorrect prepositional phrase), and 'in Japan... have more production' (incorrect sentence structure). There is a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. Frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and verb forms are present throughout the text. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb will significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
