Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the chart, such as identifying China and the USA as the top producers and consumers. However, the analysis is quite superficial and lacks a clear overview of the data trends. The report fails to group the countries effectively or provide a meaningful comparison beyond simple listing. The mention of a 'gradual increase' is inaccurate, as the chart shows data for a single year (2014), not a time series. Consequently, the interpretation of the data is flawed. To improve, you should focus on accurately describing the static data provided and highlighting the most significant differences between production and consumption across the top ten countries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The introduction is informal ('lets analyse this difference'), and the transition between sentences is often mechanical or repetitive. The use of cohesive devices is limited, relying heavily on simple structures like 'Similarly' or 'In conclusion'. The paragraphing is somewhat arbitrary, and the final paragraph introduces new, inaccurate information rather than summarizing the main points effectively. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear focus and use a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, frequently using phrases like 'production and consumption of electricity' and 'at lower level'. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs or comparative language. Some word choices are imprecise, such as 'at more lower level' (grammatically incorrect) and 'at bottom of chart'. The units of measurement are also incorrectly labeled as 'kw' instead of the standard unit for national electricity production (likely billion kWh). To improve, incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surpass', 'account for', 'the highest figure', and 'marginal difference'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('In given chart', 'at top of list'), incorrect comparative forms ('at more lower level'), and punctuation errors. Sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. For example, 'United states is on second number' is unnatural phrasing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct article usage and comparative structures, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
