Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response effectively addresses the prompt by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted the top two countries, China and the US, and noted the key trend regarding the relationship between production and consumption. The use of data is accurate and supports your observations well. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide a more comprehensive overview of the remaining countries rather than just listing them. While you mentioned that production was generally higher, grouping the remaining countries more analytically would demonstrate a stronger ability to select and report key features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding overview. The progression of information is smooth, moving from the top producers to the remaining countries. You used cohesive devices such as 'while', 'however', and 'respectively' effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data sets. The flow is natural, and the referencing is clear throughout the text. To improve further, ensure that transitions between sentences are varied to avoid a slightly repetitive structure in the second and third paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information accurately. Terms such as 'exceeded', 'generated', and 'respectively' are used correctly in context. The vocabulary is appropriate for an academic report. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or less common synonyms to describe the data trends. For example, instead of repeating 'produced' or 'consumption', you could use terms like 'output', 'utilization', or 'surpassed'. Overall, the lexical control is good and supports clear communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0

The response demonstrates a good command of grammatical structures. You have successfully used a mix of simple and complex sentences, such as the opening complex sentence and the comparative structures in the second paragraph. Punctuation is generally accurate, and there are very few errors. The sentence structures are varied, which helps maintain the reader's interest. To reach the highest band, ensure that you consistently use a wider variety of complex structures, such as passive voice constructions or participle clauses, to describe the data more fluidly.
