Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as identifying China as the leader in both production and consumption. However, the report is incomplete as it stops abruptly mid-sentence when discussing Canada and France, failing to include the remaining countries in the top ten list. While the overview identifies the general trend that production exceeds consumption, the lack of a complete summary for all data points significantly impacts the task achievement. To improve, ensure all relevant data categories are addressed and the report is brought to a logical conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In 2014', and 'Likewise'. However, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete final sentence, which leaves the reader without a sense of closure. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the mechanical nature of some transitions makes the flow feel slightly repetitive. Improving the logical flow between sentences and ensuring the text is finished properly would enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, with terms like 'generation', 'consumption', and 'distributed' used correctly in context. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'produce and consume' instead of 'produced and consumed', and the repetitive use of 'billion KHW'. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. To improve, try to vary your reporting verbs and avoid repeating the same units of measurement in every sentence.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'was produce and consume' (passive voice error), 'had produced' (incorrect tense usage), and 'the 5398 billion KHW' (unnecessary article). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall quality. Focusing on consistent verb tense usage and correct passive voice construction will help improve your accuracy.
