Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully identified the main features of the chart, specifically the dominance of China and the US compared to the other eight countries. You have also included relevant data points to support your summary. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting of the data; for instance, you stated the US produced 4,099 million kWh, whereas the chart indicates 4,099 billion kWh. Additionally, the comparison between countries could be more analytical. To reach a higher band, ensure that all units are correctly transcribed and that you provide a more comprehensive overview of the trends across all ten countries rather than focusing primarily on the top two.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'However' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, the phrase 'Countries from rank three to onward' is slightly unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of cohesive devices to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them in a repetitive manner.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'production', 'consumption', and 'figures'. However, there are several spelling errors ('alomost', 'trent', 'consumtion', 'vallues') and punctuation issues, such as the incorrect use of decimal points (e.g., '936,2' instead of '936.2'). These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your spelling and numerical formatting are consistent with standard English conventions. You have the necessary vocabulary to describe the data, but it needs to be applied with greater accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The japan had produced', 'similar values was'), incorrect article usage ('In the China'), and awkward phrasing ('had a sharp difference than the China'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that your sentence construction is grammatically sound. Reducing these frequent slips will significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
