Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the top countries and provided some data, the summary is incomplete as it only covers the first five countries rather than the top ten requested. Furthermore, the analysis lacks a clear overview or a concluding summary of the main trends. The comparison between production and consumption is mentioned, but the lack of depth and the failure to address the full dataset result in an underdeveloped response that does not fully satisfy the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, appearing as a single block of text. While there is a basic logical progression from the top-ranked country downwards, the lack of cohesive devices makes the transition between sentences feel mechanical. For example, the phrase 'Further, other different countries have the lowest' is vague and does not effectively link the ideas. The response would benefit from clear paragraphing—one for the introduction/overview and one or two for the detailed comparisons—to improve the overall flow and readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, particularly the constant use of 'production rate' and 'consumption'. While the terminology is accurate for the context of the chart, there is a lack of variety in reporting verbs or comparative language. Phrases like 'on the second in this list' and 'on the fourth point' are slightly unnatural. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated ways to describe data, such as 'outpaced', 'surpassed', or 'accounted for'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For instance, 'With the second lowest in United States' is a sentence fragment and grammatically incorrect. There are also issues with article usage, such as 'in United States' instead of 'in the United States'. While simple sentences are generally clear, the attempt at more complex structures often leads to errors in word order or preposition usage. Increasing the variety of sentence structures and proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement would improve the score.
