Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified some main features, such as China's leading position and the Republic of Korea's lower figures, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have not provided a comprehensive overview of the data, and the comparisons between countries are limited and lack detail. To improve, ensure you cover all parts of the prompt, provide a clear summary of the main trends, and include sufficient data points to support your observations, ensuring you meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical flow is hindered by the lack of sufficient content. While you use some cohesive devices like 'on the other hand' and 'apart from this', the transitions between sentences feel mechanical and sometimes disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall structure lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'production' and 'consumption' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice and formatting, such as 'wltt' (likely a typo for a unit) and the inconsistent capitalization of country names like 'china' and 'korea'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surpass', 'account for', or 'fluctuate', and ensure proper noun capitalization and accurate terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles (e.g., 'in first place'), incorrect sentence structure, and punctuation issues. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, as most sentences are simple or contain errors that affect clarity. For example, 'Russia , japan , india has the production of electricity was approximately at...' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and practice combining simple sentences into more complex, error-free structures.
