Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as identifying China as the leader and mentioning the other countries. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the trends, which is essential for Task 1. The data presentation is somewhat fragmented, and the comparison between production and consumption is not consistently highlighted. While the key figures are included, the analysis is superficial. To improve, you should group the data more logically—perhaps by comparing the top producers versus the lower-ranked ones—and ensure you provide a clear, concise summary paragraph that highlights the most significant overall patterns in the data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'Commencing with China' followed by a sentence fragment. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when referring to the data points for the United States and Russia. The transition between paragraphs is abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by the repetitive structure of the sentences. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects to the overall purpose of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'production' and 'consumption' without variation. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'delineate' (which is slightly misused in this context) and 'it's' (a common error for the possessive 'its'). The phrasing 'Our last parameters are' is not appropriate for an academic report. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surpassed', 'accounted for', 'figures', or 'respectively', and ensure you distinguish between possessive pronouns and contractions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Punctuation is often incorrect, such as the use of full stops where commas or conjunctions are needed (e.g., 'Secondly, it depicts United States which was...'). There are also consistent errors with possessives ('it's' instead of 'its') and subject-verb agreement. Some sentences are incomplete or lack a clear subject. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofreading for common errors like the misuse of apostrophes.
