Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the chart, such as identifying the highest and lowest producers and consumers. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks a clear, logical structure. There are inaccuracies in the data reporting, such as stating the year as 2024 instead of 2014, and some comparisons are confusing or contradictory (e.g., claiming Korea and Russia had equal rates of production and consumption, which is not supported by the data). The overview is missing, and the information is presented as a list of facts rather than a cohesive summary of trends and comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a clear paragraph structure, which makes it difficult to follow. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'Firstly' and 'however', they are often used incorrectly or in a way that does not improve the flow of ideas. The progression of information is disjointed, jumping between countries without a clear thematic or comparative focus. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of proper paragraphing significantly hinders the logical organization of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'production', 'consumption', and 'highest'. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'utilizing of electricity' instead of 'consumption' and 'least producer' instead of 'lowest producer'. Spelling errors, such as 'higest', 'greated', and 'united Stated', are present. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'China's rate of production and consumption found nearly same', and incorrect preposition usage. Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as the run-on sentence starting with 'Korea reported the lowest...'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters for proper nouns and incorrect spacing around symbols.
