Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries for electricity production and consumption. You have successfully selected the main features and made relevant comparisons, such as noting China's dominance and the lower figures for Korea. However, the analysis is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more analytical synthesis of the data. For instance, while you mention the top countries, you could have highlighted the interesting observation that most countries consume slightly less than they produce, or grouped countries with similar output levels more effectively to improve the clarity of the comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'Looking at the chart in more details' to guide the reader. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For example, instead of repeating 'electricity production' multiple times, you could use pronouns or synonyms to improve the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate production and consumption data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption', 'production', and 'billion kWh' correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'highest rating' instead of 'highest level' or 'volume', and 'in the race' which is too informal for an academic report. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing numerical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You have several subject-verb agreement errors, such as 'The bar chart illustrate' (should be 'illustrates'), 'United states... is' (should be 'are'), and 'Russia, Japan and India has' (should be 'have'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues, such as the missing space after the comma in '1057,936.2'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical agreement.
