Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the chart, including the leading countries and the general trend that production usually exceeds consumption. You also correctly highlighted the exception regarding Germany. However, the response lacks a clear, analytical overview that synthesizes the data effectively. While you mention the top countries, the comparison between production and consumption for the remaining countries is somewhat fragmented. To reach a higher band, ensure that your overview provides a more comprehensive summary of the trends rather than just listing individual data points. The inclusion of specific figures is good, but ensure these are used to support a clear comparison rather than just reporting them sequentially.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Conversely' and 'However', to signal shifts in the data. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the transition between the general overview and the specific data points could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Russia generate and produced nearly same values', where the lack of a clear subject or comparative structure makes the connection to the data less precise. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption', 'production', and 'figures' appropriately. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'parallelly consumes' and 'followed more production than consumption'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. Furthermore, there is some repetition of basic verbs like 'generate' and 'produces'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and varying your vocabulary to describe trends, such as using 'outstrips' or 'surpasses' instead of 'consumes more than the amount of electricity produces'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your work. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Germany consumes... produces', 'Russia generate and produced'), missing articles ('the Germany', 'the United states'), and tense inconsistencies. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles with country names. Additionally, ensure that your verb forms are consistent when describing data that occurred in the past.
