The bar chart below shows the top ten countries for the production and consumption of electricity in 2014.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given bar chart illustrates how electricity produced and consumed across the top ten countries in 2014.

Overall, it can be seen that China was the highest consumer and producer of electricity wheres most of the countries were lower in these case expect the US.

Looking first at the China and the United States, electricity consumption and production recorded higher figures than other mentioned countries. The figure for production, Canada, Japan and India stood at 618.9, 936.2 and 871 respectively. A similar pattern can be seen in Germany, Korea, Rep and Brazil, with the figures standing at 526.7, 484.1 and 530.7 respectively in production.

Turning to the remaining countried, the production and consumption level were almost same in Russia which recorded 1,057 and 1038. In terms of cosumption, most of the countries witnessed quite similar figure.
