Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. While you have identified the main features, such as China's leading position and the comparison between production and consumption, the analysis is underdeveloped. You have not provided enough detail or a comprehensive overview of the data for the remaining countries. To reach a higher band, you must extend your description by including more specific data points and making more detailed comparisons across the ten countries provided in the chart. The current length prevents a full development of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is logically organized with an introduction and an overview. However, the lack of length limits the use of cohesive devices. You have used some basic linking words like 'Overall' and 'Moreover', but the progression of ideas is abrupt due to the brevity of the text. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and use a wider variety of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas more fluidly. The paragraphing is currently insufficient because the response is too short to demonstrate a clear structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You have used terms like 'produced', 'consumption', and 'generate' correctly, but there is a lack of variety and precision. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'surpassed', 'accounted for', or 'marginal difference'. The current range is limited, which restricts your ability to convey the information with the precision expected at higher bands. Focus on using more academic collocations to describe the trends shown in the bar chart.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'rest nine countries' (should be 'remaining nine countries') and 'most of their consumption is lesser than the production' (should be 'less than'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of control over more complex structures. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of comparative adjectives. Increasing the length and complexity of your sentences will also allow you to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical structures.
