Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear or accurate overview. While it identifies China and the US as leading countries, the description of the data is often confusing and inaccurate. For instance, stating that 'five countries as Korea, Germany, Brazil, France and Canada are lowest level' is vague and does not effectively compare the specific figures provided in the chart. The report lacks a clear selection of key features, and the data points mentioned (e.g., '5.398 billion kWh') are presented in a way that is difficult to follow. To improve, you must focus on grouping data logically and ensuring that comparisons are precise and supported by the actual figures in the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical or misused (e.g., 'then, United States as second country'). Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between countries. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively separate the overview from the detailed analysis. Improving the use of linking words such as 'whereas', 'in contrast', and 'consequently' would help create a more professional and readable structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'production' and 'consumption'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'China produced electricity as effective country' and 'United States products 4.099 billion'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'generated', 'accounted for', 'surpassed', or 'remained stable'. Additionally, ensure that you use the correct word forms (e.g., 'produced' instead of 'products' as a verb).
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the readability of the text. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'There are ten countries that production and consumption'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. Many sentences are fragmented or lack a main verb, such as 'Five countries as Korea. Germany, Barazil, France and Canada are lowest level'. While some simple sentences are clear, there is a lack of complex structures, and the existing ones are often inaccurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
