Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the top ten countries and comparing production and consumption. You have successfully highlighted the main features, such as China's leading position and the general trend of decreasing figures. However, the report could be improved by grouping the data more effectively rather than listing individual figures. For instance, while you mention China and the USA, the remaining eight countries are grouped together in a way that lacks analytical depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more integrated and that you highlight significant trends or anomalies (like the gap between production and consumption in specific countries) more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'and' to join clauses. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is clear, but some sentences within the body paragraphs feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would enhance the flow and help the reader navigate the data more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have used an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'consumption', 'production', 'ranked', and 'moderate'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'in terms of totality' and 'led the most', which are not standard collocations in this context. Additionally, there is some repetition of basic verbs. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'surpassed', 'accounted for', or 'fluctuated', and ensure that your phrasing sounds more natural and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the the' (repetition), 'in comparision to' (spelling), and 'produced and consumed eqivalent amounts which was' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly awkward in their construction. To achieve a higher band, focus on reducing these small errors and increasing the variety of complex sentence structures, ensuring that subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are consistently accurate.
