Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the data, such as the dominance of China and the USA, and the unique position of Germany as the only country consuming more than it produced. You provided specific data points to support your observations. However, the response lacks a clear, analytical overview of the trends. While you mention the top countries, the grouping of the remaining nations (Japan, India, Canada, etc.) is somewhat list-like and lacks a comparative synthesis. To improve, ensure the overview highlights the most significant contrast between the top two producers and the rest of the group, rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand' and 'In the third place'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. For instance, the list of countries in the third paragraph is a bit clunky and could be better integrated using more sophisticated linking phrases. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main trends from the specific exception of Germany. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the general overview and the detailed data could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'generation', 'consumption', and 'ranking table'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'as used 5322 billion kWh' (should be 'and used') and 'most of all countries in this list follows similar pattern' (should be 'follow a similar pattern'). While you successfully communicate the data, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'production' and 'consumption' and ensure that your phrasing is more precise when describing numerical data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as missing articles ('USA' should be 'the USA') and subject-verb agreement issues ('most of all countries... follows' should be 'follow'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences that could be improved with better use of commas or semicolons. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for small errors like missing articles and pluralization will significantly improve your accuracy.
