Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully identifies the main features of the chart, including the top producers/consumers and the notable exception of Germany. You have provided a clear overview and supported your points with relevant data from the chart. The comparison between production and consumption is well-handled. To reach a higher band, ensure you include all data points mentioned in the prompt; while you covered the top countries, the grouping of France, Brazil, and Germany in the production paragraph is a bit vague. Providing specific figures for each would have strengthened the analysis. Overall, the task is addressed clearly and effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on production and consumption respectively. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you use cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'compared to', and 'similarly' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main themes. The referencing is generally clear, though the transition between the production and consumption paragraphs could be slightly more sophisticated to better highlight the relationship between the two datasets. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information precisely, such as 'generated', 'consumed', and 'ranked'. There are some minor issues with collocation and phrasing, such as 'highest number on the chart' (referring to a quantity rather than a number) and 'produced a similar billion kWh', which is slightly awkward. However, these errors do not impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'produced' and 'consumed' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more flexible command of academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'The Russia, Japan and India' (unnecessary article) and 'more that what was produced' (typo: 'than'). Additionally, the sentence 'Germany was the only country to consume 582.5 billion kWh electricity which was more that what was produced' is slightly clunky. Despite these occasional errors, the majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control of punctuation and tense is generally good. The errors present are non-systematic and do not cause confusion for the reader.
