Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to provide a clear overview or a structured summary of the data. While it mentions China and the US, it lacks a systematic comparison of the top ten countries. The writing is highly subjective, using informal language like 'most rated', 'under rated', and 'shocking thing', which is inappropriate for an Academic Task 1 report. Furthermore, the data interpretation is confusing; for instance, the claim that India is 'on number 2' is factually incorrect based on the provided chart. The response does not effectively select and report the main features, resulting in a disorganized presentation of the information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks logical organization and paragraphing. It is written as a single, disjointed block of text. There is no clear progression of ideas; the writer jumps between countries without a coherent structure. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'there is' and 'I am seeing'. The lack of paragraphing and the absence of linking words make the text difficult to follow, as the ideas do not flow logically from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic, informal, and often inaccurate terminology, such as 'most rated', 'under rated', and 'abrupt change'. There is no attempt to use academic vocabulary related to data analysis (e.g., 'surpassed', 'accounted for', 'significant difference'). The misuse of words like 'familiar' to describe a country's ranking further demonstrates a lack of control over lexical choice. The range is insufficient to convey the information with any degree of precision or academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are persistent issues with sentence structure, such as fragments and run-on sentences. Examples include 'where its production is about 5398 billion kwh' and 'there is most surprisingly thing I HAVE SEEN here that INDIA is on 5 number.' Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing capital letters for proper nouns and incorrect sentence boundaries. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, poorly constructed sentences. The frequent errors in basic grammar and syntax make the text difficult to read.
