Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the bar chart, identifying the top producers and consumers. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical comparison. For instance, while you mention China and the USA, the comparison between production and consumption for other countries is inconsistent. The overview is present but could be more insightful by highlighting the general trend that production often exceeds consumption across most nations. Some data points are missing or described vaguely, such as 'consumed less than of it' for the USA, which is an incomplete reference. To reach a higher band, ensure all key data points are clearly stated and comparisons are more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Moving towards', but the transitions between individual country data points feel like a list rather than a cohesive report. The paragraphing is present, but the structure within the paragraphs could be improved to group information more logically (e.g., grouping high-production countries versus lower ones). Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'consumed less than of it', which lacks a clear antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence flows naturally from the previous one will enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on repetitive verbs like 'produced' and 'consumed'. There are also several spelling and typographical errors, such as 'billioin', 'contet', 'thier', 'Brail', and 'Laslty'. These errors, while not always impeding communication, detract from the professional tone required for an Academic Task 1 response. To improve, try to incorporate a wider range of synonyms for 'production' and 'consumption' (e.g., 'generated', 'utilized', 'output') and ensure careful proofreading to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('in context of Brail'), incorrect verb forms ('USA had produced'), and punctuation issues (extra spaces before commas). The sentence 'The data is scaled billioin kWh' is grammatically incomplete. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation limit the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and practice constructing more complex sentences with accurate punctuation.
