Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the task. While you identify the main features, such as China being the leader and the Republic of Korea being the lowest, the analysis is superficial. You have grouped many countries together without providing specific data points for them, which prevents a thorough comparison. To improve, you must provide more detailed data for each country mentioned and ensure the response length is sufficient to cover all parts of the prompt comprehensively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into a brief introduction, an overview, and a body paragraph. However, the progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way, such as 'In 2014' and 'In the case of'. The paragraphing is present, but the lack of development makes the overall structure feel underdeveloped. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus with supporting data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use the same phrases, such as 'production and consumption of electricity' and 'produced... and consumed'. There is little attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary or synonyms to describe trends or data points. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied verbs and nouns, such as 'generated', 'utilized', 'surpassed', or 'figures', to avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the largest country on the production' (should be 'in terms of') and 'Korea Republic is the least' (should be 'the lowest'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods in several instances. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors and the limited range of structures prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage.
